Shaping the Future of Pedigree Sheep Breeding in Armenia
Our history
On May 24, 2023, the Pedigree Sheep Breeders’ Association of Armenia was founded as a result of cooperation between farms, the National Agrarian University of Armenia, and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.
As part of the EU “Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia” (EU-GAIA) program a development strategy was created for the Pedigree Sheep Breeders’ Association of Armenia under the coordination of the ICARE Foundation. The project is funded by the European Union and co-financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation. It is jointly implemented by the Austrian Development Agency and the United Nations Development Program. The mission of the Pedigree Sheep Breeders’ Association of Armenia is to unite large and small pedigree sheep farms, researchers, educational institutions, government agencies, and industry partners to promote breeding, management, and marketing of pedigree sheep in Armenia.
Individuals and organisations interested in breeding, value chain management, marketing promotion, and support of pedigree sheep in the country can join the Pedigree Sheep Breeders’ Association of Armenia.
The management board of the association consists of a president and six members, four of whom must be farmers.
